Showing 12:47–13:48 of the source video.

What happens in this clip

The final step is to apply a protective and enhancing finish to the entire wooden cabinet. Use a spray gun to evenly coat all exterior and interior wooden surfaces with your chosen wood finish (e.g., lacquer, varnish, or sealant). Ensure all drawers and tilting doors are opened during this process to access all hidden areas and achieve complete coverage. Allow the finish to dry completely according to the product's instructions.

Goal: Protect and enhance the appearance of the wooden cabinet with a durable finish.

About the full video

This project guides you through constructing a versatile multi-functional cabinet using reclaimed pallet wood. The cabinet features a combination of pull-out drawers and unique tilting doors, which are designed to house waste bins. Additionally, the entire cabinet can be set up on foldable legs to provide an angled, elevated position for easy access. The process involves preparing the raw wood, precise cutting, frame assembly, internal structure building, hardware installation, and a final protective finish.

Step 9 of 10: Finish the Unit

Once the glue has fully dried and the unit is assembled, apply your chosen finish. Start with a primer if painting, then apply two coats of paint. If staining, apply the stain evenly, wipe off excess, and then apply a protective topcoat (polyurethane, varnish). Follow the manufacturer's instructions for drying times between coats.
