And for more info about where you can purchase stair treads, we "cover" (get it, stair covers?) lots of great options in our blog post titled, Where can I buy carpet stair treads?

Samples are final sale and not eligible for return or exchange.

The price listed is for a single tread.

This depends on personal preference.  However, 2-4 inches on either side is standard.

The overhang is 1 ½”.

Our current lead time for standard orders is 3-5 weeks, for custom orders the lead time is 4-6 weeks.

No.  We use a petroleum based, non-damaging adhesive on the back of the treads and landings.  You may take them on and off as many times as you’d like.

As long as the glue is free of debris, the glue will continue to stick when removed multiple times.

We hope you love everything that you order from us, but if something isn’t quite right you have 30 days from the day you receive your parcel to return or exchange the order.

Great news - No more restocking fee!

Simply complete the online return request form to receive an confirmation email along with a pre-paid shipping label or follow up email from our returns department if further details are required.

Once the return has been received, inspected, and approved, an email with the refunded amount applied to your original form of payment will be issued.

To receive a full refund, the original item MUST be in new condition and returned without:
Pet dander or furDirt
Grass stains
Signs of wear, washing, or improper care
Damage or stains

Please note we DO NOT ACCEPT RETURNS ON CUSTOM ORDERS  that are placed over the phone. With this being said, we will repair any product to make sure you have the perfect size tread free of cost. We love to make custom orders but unfortunately they are made just for you and not likely to be repurposed for a separate project.

Installing Carpet Stair Treads

Measuring your stairs and landing areas is quite simple. All you need is a tape measure, pencil, and piece of paper. Begin with counting the number of treads you will need. Next measure the depth of each tread to make sure they are all the same, if not, note the depth of each stair. Specifically measure from the tip of the front edge to the back of the stair where it meets the riser. Next measure the width of the stair from side to side (this will be your longest measurement).

You measure from the back of the riser to the tip of the bullnose.  One suggestion would be to put something against the bullnose & measure to the tip of the bullnose.  The measuring tape should be straight and not bend or wrap around the front edge.

Installing carpet stair treads takes as little as 20 minutes. Our treads come with a pressure sensitive adhesive that keeps the tread in place without damage. Specially formulated adhesive is safe for all surfaces and allows for a secure installation in just minutes. All installed carpet stair treads can be easily removed or replaced as needed.

The first thing to do is to use painters’ tape to outline the stair/ landing(s) where the carpet will lay.  Use kraft paper or anything that is easily folded to make the physical templates.  Be sure to write your measurements on EACH side of the template.  Once your templates are made, you would mail them to our office at the following address:

Stair Tread Shapes

The bullnose stair tread has a standard round edge at the front of the existing wooden tread. With our specially formulated backing Oak Valley Designs treads are preformed for the optimal fit creating the perfect wrap around designer covering for your stairs.

The square edge stair tread has a slightly more contemporary feel. Our mill has the ability to custom fit the carpet of your choosing to create and tight, clean wrap around finish to the square edge of your stair by using our industry leading preform method.

Our bullnose will fit a stair that is 1-1/6” or less.

Maintenance

To effectively clean your carpet stair treads, you can treat them similarly to a regular area rug. If needed, vacuum the treads regularly to remove dirt and debris. Additionally, you can follow the instructions provided below to spot clean any stains. Please note that carpet stair treads are not suitable for machine washing.

What you need: One bucket (or large bowl), two cloths, gentle liquid soap, warm water.

Step One: If the stain or accident is still wet, use a clean cloth or paper towel to pat and soak up as much as possible.

Step Two: Wet one cloth in the warm soapy water, wring out, then press down on the stain and continue to pat. It’s important to not rub the carpet as this could comprise the integrity of the yarn and give it a different texture.

Step Three: Continue to rinse your cloth in the warm water and pat the stain multiple times.

Step Four: Once the stain has lifted, soak up as much of the soapy water as possible.

Step Five: Pat the stained area with fresh clean water then pat dry.Last Step: Try to dry the area as best you can with a clean dry cloth or paper towels, then allow to air dry. Be sure to try and keep anyone from walking on the freshly cleaned area until dry.
