What happens in this clip

To address the cramped feeling, the designer proposes combining the sofa and bed into a single, multi-functional daybed. He emphasizes selecting a daybed that is deeper than a standard sofa for comfort and has beautiful lines. The existing dining table, currently awkwardly placed, is reimagined as a dining table/desk combination positioned by the window to maximize natural light and serve dual purposes. A small, movable slipper chair is also suggested for additional seating without adding bulk.

Goal: Reduce clutter and create more open floor space by choosing furniture with multiple uses.

About the full video

This project provides a detailed design consultation for transforming a dark, cramped, and uninviting 300-square-foot studio apartment into a spacious, bright, and highly functional living area. The redesign focuses on smart furniture choices, strategic use of light-reflecting elements, and the construction of custom shelf dividers with integrated drawers for hidden storage.

Step 8 of 9: Add Seating

Select and position a comfortable seating option, such as a beanbag chair, small sofa, floor cushions, or a custom-built bench. Ensure it fits well within the space and allows for easy access.
