Install Landscape Timber Borders

What happens in this clip
Install the prepared landscape timbers into the excavated trenches. For each timber, drill pilot holes and then secure it to the ground using 12-inch spikes. Use a hammer to drive the spikes through the timbers and into the compacted soil below. Ensure that the timbers are level and square, especially at the corners, using a level and a speed square. The creator opted for a single row of timbers. Repeat this process for all border timbers for both the main patio and the adjacent flower bed.
Goal: Create stable and level timber borders for the patio and flower bed.

Step 3 of 8: Install Retaining Timbers
Place the main retaining timbers into the excavated trench. Ensure they are level and plumb. For added stability, drive stakes into the ground behind the timbers and secure the timbers to the stakes with screws. Backfill lightly around the timbers to hold them in place.
