Perform final adjustments to ensure all drawers and the door operate smoothly and have even gaps. Use a hand plane to finess the edges of the drawer fronts as needed, creating consistent reveals. Add subtle chamfers to the edges of the case and the drawer fronts for a softer, more finished look. This can be done with a hand plane and then smoothed with a scraper or sanding block. Once all surfaces are prepared, apply a hardwax oil finish to all wooden components of the cabinet (case, drawers, door). Use brushes to apply the oil, ensuring even coverage. Allow the finish to soak in for the recommended time, then wipe off any excess with clean rags.

Step 7 of 7: Attach Handles and Finish

Measure and mark the placement for the handles or pulls on the front of each drawer or cart. Drill pilot holes and attach the hardware. If you plan to paint or stain the wood, do so now. Apply primer, followed by your chosen paint or stain, and a protective topcoat for durability. Ensure adequate ventilation during finishing.
