To support the bottom end of the stringers, a wood plate is first anchored to the concrete footing. Begin by drilling appropriate pilot holes into the wood plate and then into the concrete footing. Secure the wood plate using heavy-duty screw anchors, such as the stainless steel Titan HD anchors, driven with an impact driver. Once the plate is secured, the stringer is fastened to this plate using Simpson Strong-Tie A23Z framing angles. These angles are attached with fasteners to both the stringer and the wood plate to create a strong, stable base.
