After cutting the first mitered skirt board, cut the adjacent board to a rough length. Before making the final precise cut for the second board's miter, dry-fit both boards. Clamp the already installed board in place, then bring the second board up, aligning it flush with the first board. Use a scrap piece of skirting material as a template. By positioning the scrap piece and observing the gap, you can accurately determine how much material needs to be removed from the second board to achieve a perfectly flush mitered corner. This ensures all pieces meet nicely.
