What happens in this clip
With the mounting plate now securely attached to the newel post, carefully position the newel post over the balustrade center line on the floor. Take care to ensure that the newel post is perfectly square to the floor, using a square if necessary to verify alignment. Once satisfied with the placement and squareness, use the remaining No. 9, 2-inch wood screws (from the kit) to securely mount the newel post through the mounting plate directly to the floor. Drive these screws firmly to ensure a stable and rigid installation.
Goal: Securely fasten the newel post to the floor at the correct location and orientation.
