Step 4 · The Final Touch: Proper Air Drying

After giving your Oak Valley Designs treads a refreshing hand-wash or deep clean, the final, crucial step is proper drying. Always lay your treads flat to air dry completely. This might require a little patience, but it’s vital for preserving their integrity. **Under no circumstances should you use a clothes dryer.** The heat from a dryer will compromise and damage the unique adhesive backing that makes our treads so effective and easy to install (no nails, no glue, no stress!), potentially causing shrinkage and reducing their ability to stay securely in place. Ensure each tread is bone-dry before reattaching it to your stairs. This meticulous drying process guarantees your treads will continue to protect your wood, provide peace of mind, and offer a better way to tread for your family and pets.

Oak Valley Designs Pro Tip

Always lay your carpet treads flat to air dry completely; never use a clothes dryer as the heat will damage the adhesive backing.
