Step 3 · Create and Label Your Custom Templates
This step is where The Oak Valley Difference really shines. Lay your cardboard or paper over a step and carefully trace its exact shape, making sure to include the curve of the nosing. Cut out the traced shape to create your template. The most important part: clearly label each template with its step number (e.g., 'Step 1,' 'Step 2,' etc., starting from the bottom). This ensures each custom-made tread will be crafted for its specific place on your stairs. Once you have a labeled template for every step, photograph them and send them with your order. This process guarantees the peace of mind that comes with a perfect fit.
